That hurt
As I do most nights, I woke up to the calling of natures alarm clock, so I got out of bed and gingerly shuffled my way to the bathroom. Given my cocktail of neurological conditions, urination at that time of night for me is a strictly sitting down affair, so I turned to sit down. As I turned my foot got stuck and over I went, falling neatly into the gap between the wall and the toilet.
What hurt most was I landed on the toilet roll holder, and it dug into my back just below my shoulder. So there I was lying on the floor, no way to get up with my pants around my ankles. Luckily, my wife came to my assistance to view me in this most embarrassing and compromising of positions. She didn't laugh, but I'm sure once she found out I was ok (well for the most part) she wanted to.
What annoys me is that with all the research I've done on my nerve problem I know that there is a treatment out there that has the potential to improve my condition, and my doctors here in Australia are dragging there feet on nominating me for the treatment because it is dangerous. Well, isn't living like this also dangerous?
I feel like a ticking time bomb at the moment. So far I've been lucky to evade a serious injury, but I think it is only a matter of time before I break an arm or leg or worse. So doctors, do I risk doing something dangerous for a potential reward that is almost immeasurable, or do I risk living my life dangerously for no reward? I for one have made up my mind.
Oh yeah, you might be wondering what I got my foot stuck on. Well, nothing. My foot simply wouldn't move. I am finding that every day I have to be more careful and vigilant to avoid accidents. Tick, tick, tick. Until next time, stay well:)

Lucky I'm OK...
Apparently I was only out for a couple of seconds and the good wife quickly picked me up so when I awoke she was already by my side. With a brain stimulator inserted I didn't want to take any chances so I went straight to the doc. He did the standard tests and gave me a clean bill of health.
What worries me is immediately before and after I passed out I felt perfectly fine. Apart from when I was unconscious I have total memory recall and afterwards I am only sporting a swollen upper lip, a slight headache and a bruised ego. So effectively if it happens again I will have no warning as what caused me to pass out is a mystery.
However, the doc agreed that if it happened again I should have it investigated further. Until next time, stay well:)

I'm a Clutz!!!
So, there I was, feeling pretty chuffed with myself actually. My wife was out with the girls and I had the responsibility of the kids all to myself. I had cooked dinner, tidied up, bathed the kids and got them to bed. All that was left was the dishes. That’s when it all came down like a house of cards.
Earlier I had navigated the vegetable chopping, potato mashing and burger burning without incident. Surely the dishes would be a breeze. Wrong. The chefs knife I used to cut the vegetables slipped (cursed tremor) and I got a lovely cut across the middle of my right hand.
So, I disturbed my wife’s dinner to ask her to come home and take me to hospital. So we pondered which emergency to attend (A calculated informed decision that I will blog about later) and decided to go to Box Hill.
When we arrived at the hospital the cut had yet to cease bleeding, so the triage nurse re-bandaged it up and I awaited the doctor to have a look at it. Fortunately we did not have to wait too long, and by that time the bleeding had stopped.
As a result the doctor decided not to stitch it up and simply decided to re-bandage it. I guess that it does beg the question as whether the hospital trip was necessary? Simply put, yes.
It is always better to go than not to and wish you did. Let the medical professionals be the judge. So anyway, we were home before midnight with my pride taking the biggest hit. On the bright side, my wife told me not to do the dishes any more;) Until next time, stay wellJ
